Dr. Jain completed his MBBS and MS in General Surgery from B. J. Medical College, Ahmedabad, followed by super-specialty training in Surgical Gastroenterology at Lakeshore Hospital & Medical Research Centre, Kochi, where he was awarded the Diplomate of National Board (DNB) by the National Board of Examinations.
He further specialized in HPB Surgery and Liver Transplantation through a rigorous one year fellowship at Fortis Hospital, Noida, Fortis Escorts Hospital, New Delhi, and Fortis Memorial Research Institute (FMRI), Gurugram. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
Dr. Divakar Jain is a highly accomplished surgeon with over 20 years of experience in managing complex conditions of the liver, pancreas, and biliary system. He is especially renowned for his expertise in liver transplantation and hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) surgery.
Dr. Jain began his career in medical education, serving for five years as Assistant Professor of Surgery at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Medical College, Rajkot, and Government Medical College, Surat, where he trained numerous students in advanced surgical techniques.

Throughout his career, Dr. Jain has been involved in more than 1,000 liver transplant procedures, including living donor, deceased donor (cadaveric), pediatric, and ABO-incompatible liver transplants. He also has extensive experience in all forms of complex liver, gallbladder, bile duct, and pancreatic surgeries.
Dr. Jain’s pioneering work has led to several state-first milestones in Gujarat, including:
- Gujarat’s first and only ABO-incompatible liver transplant in a 1.5-year-old child
- State’s only combined liver transplant with cardiac bypass
- Gujarat’s only successful liver retransplantation
- First successful cadaveric combined liver-kidney transplant in a private hospital
- First dual-lobe liver transplant in the state
